FELLOWSHIP (FNZARE)
First awarded in 2023, the award of Fellowship honours current NZARE members who have:
(i) made sustained and outstanding contributions to educational research over a significant timeframe; and (ii) engaged actively in service and contribution to education beyond one’s home institution.
The award consists of a citation and entitlement to use the postnominal letters FNZARE.
Nominations and Applications
Fellowships may be awarded through application or nomination. Applicants must be current NZARE members. Current NZARE members may nominate another member for Fellowship or, in exceptional circumstances, a non-NZARE member who meets the criteria and expectations for Honorary Fellowship.
The award is criterion based, rather than competitive. Applications and nominations should include the following:
A letter of application or nomination that addresses the criteria and expectations.
The applicant or nominee’s CV (including qualifications, positions held, academic and professional publications, and an outline of research contributions.

A recent colour photograph of applicant/nominee.
Letters of support are not required.

Award committee
In each year, a committee of the NZARE College of Fellows will receive and consider applications and nominations, and submit its decisions regarding conferral of the awards to the Council for final ratification.
The College and the Council retain the right to make no awards in any one year.
Awards will be conferred at the NZARE Annual General Meeting and notified in the Association’s newsletter and on its website.
Decisions by the College and Council are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Criteria for selection
Sustained and outstanding contributions to educational research over a significant timeframe;
Active engagement in service and contribution to education beyond one’s home institution;
Preparedness to contribute to the ongoing work of the NZARE College of Fellows.
The successful applicant and nominees
Successful applicants, nominees and nominators will be informed of the awards prior to the AGM.
Unsuccessful applicants and nominees are notified by email and/or letter after the selection process has been completed and the successful applicants and nominees have received their awards.
